Ethiopian FM receives copy of credentials of Sudanese ambassador
Addis Ababa, August 13, 2020 (FBC) -Gedu Andargachew, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, today received credentials of the newly appointed ambassador of the Sudan to Ethiopia, Jamal El Sheikh.
Following a welcoming speech by Gedu, the two have made discussions on issues of common interest, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During their discussion, they have reaffirmed that Ethiopia and the Sudan are committed to settling the boundary issues through the mechanisms that the two countries have jointly devised.
Discussing the current status of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) talks, Gedu reiterated that Ethiopia is committed to continue the negotiation in good faith to address the outstanding issues in a way that does not compromise the optimal operation of the dam and that does not restrict Ethiopia’s right to use the Blue Nile.
He expressed his wish that the ambassador would spend a successful tenure in Ethiopia.
Ambassador Jamal El Sheikh said he is delighted to come to Ethiopia as an ambassador for a second time and affirmed that he would do his level best to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
