Young Ethiopian diasporas plant tree seedlings in Chaka project
Addis Ababa, July 20, 2024 (FBC) – Members of the second generation Ethiopian Diaspora, who returned to their homeland under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s “Back to Your Origins” initiative from different foreign countries, took part in tree seedlings planting at the Chaka project today, as stated by the Ministry of Tourism.
The event was attended by senior government officials, including the Minister of Tourism, Ambassador Nasise Chali, and the Head of the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Alemtsehay Pawlos.
The young second-generation Diaspora also visited the ongoing activities of the Chaka project, located in the northeastern part of Addis Ababa.
Note that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, during the inauguration of the Chebera Elephant Paw Lodge in December 2023, extended an invitation to the second generation of the Ethiopian Diaspora to return to their roots, immerse themselves in the rich history and culture, and actively participate in the nation’s dynamic development endeavors.
In this regard, members of the second generation Diaspora who left their mark at the Chaka project today have arrived in Addis Ababa in the past few weeks under the third phase of the “Back to Your Origins” call.
The third round of homecoming is currently underway under the theme “Leave Your Legacy, Savor Your Holiday”, starting from the onset of the Ethiopian rainy season and will continue until September 30, 2024.
During this period, the second-generation diaspora returning to their homeland will continue participating in the national annual tree planting event.
The third round of arrivals, young Ethiopian Diasporas are utilizing their vacation time to make a difference through voluntary service, which has been initiated at the national level.
