World Bank will support Ethiopia in advancing tax administration
Addis Ababa, October 6, 2023 (FBC) – The World Bank will support efforts to advance Ethiopia’s tax administration, the Ministry of Revenues of Ethiopia (MOR) said.
The Minister of Revenues of Ethiopia Ms. Aynalem Nigusie and the World Bank high-level delegation held a meeting on a project implemented under the framework of “Advancing Ethiopia’s Tax Administration to Provide Cost-Effective and Efficient Services”.
The Ministry indicated that the project will help increase the ratio of Ethiopia’s tax revenue with GDP.
The project includes steps to generate reform ideas in pursuant to Ethiopia’s tax policy, expedite efforts to build an efficient, modern and accessible tax administration system through modern technology, and steps to improve the quality standards of services provided to taxpayers.
Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Revenues, Aynalem Nigusie, underlined that the project should be applied consistently to the tax collection organizations at all levels.
She emphasized that the objectives of the project should be in conformance with Ethiopia’s 10-year development plan and med-term (2016-2018 E.C) development and investment plan.
