World Bank President visits MSEs owned by women entrepreneurs
Addis Ababa, August 2, 2023 (FBC) – On the second day of his stay in Ethiopia, World Bank President Ajay Banga visited women entrepreneurs engaged in small and medium industries.
He also spoke to women who benefited from the Women Entrepreneurship Development Project (WEDP) supported by the Ethiopian government and the World Bank Group.
During his tour, the World Bank President visited the Misgana Shoes, a factory engaged in shoe production in Addis Ababa. He stated that he was chuffed and surprised by what he observed in those women-run MSEs.
He pointed out that many young women have created job opportunities for others with the support they have received. Mr. Ajay Banga said he learned that it is possible to create many more entrepreneurs if this sort of support is facilitated to other women.
The president mentioned that he observed young entrepreneurs can do a lot if they get financial support, adding that Ethiopia has a lot of human resources that can contribute for the growth of its economy.
