World Bank, Ethiopia discuss ways to continue collaboration in road development sector
World Bank Country Director for Easter and Southern Africa, Ousmane Dione has today discussed with Ethiopian Roads Authority Director General, Engineer Habtamu Tegegn on how to continue working together to advance connectivity agenda, road asset management best practices and improve regional integration.
It is stated on the occasion that World Bank has invested more than 2 Billion US Dollars since 1991 to help address Ethiopia’s infrastructure gap.
World Banks’s investment has helped to improve the quality of Ethiopia’s roads and increase the size of the road network from under 20,000 km in 1991 to over 144,000 km in 2020, it is indicated during the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Wrold Bank Country Director, Ousmane Dione held discussion with CEO of Industrial Parks Development Corporation, Sandokan Debebe on various issues.
World Bank has been supporting Ethiopia’s Industrial Parks program through the Competitiveness and Job Creation project since its inception and has helped to lay down the legal and institutional foundation for the program.
He further reiterated commitment of the World Bank to continue supporting Ethiopia’s Structural Transformation and Industrialization.
