Wildfire in the Semien Mts National Park under control: Authority

Addis Ababa, April 11, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority (EWCA) has confirmed today that the wildfire blazed in the North Mountains National Park has been brought under control.

The Authority noted that the forest fire has spread through the park since since April 7. The cause of the wildire is being investigated, EWCA said.

It is stated that the wildfire that broke out in Imet Gogo and Gich areas of the park was brought under control by the park staff, the local community and the members of the national defense forces.

It is also pointed out that efforts are being undertaken so that wildfire does not breakout and cause further damage again.

The authority further confirmed that it will issue a statement regarding the cause of the forest fire and the damage it inflicted.
