Utility electrifies 125 more rural towns and localities
Addis Ababa, May 18, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Electric Utility has provided additional 125 rural towns and localities with electric power.
The Utility stated that it has been undertaking a wide range of activities to increase electric power access to parts of the country still in need of the service.
Institution indicates that it has been implementing ‘Electric Access to All’ program since 2005, adding that the expansion works have resulted in a significant increase of number of beneficiary rural areas.
The number of rural towns and localities who have got access to electric power has increased from 667 to 7,892 following the expansion works started in 2005, according to the Utility.
Ethiopia has been working to tap its abundant renewable energy potential in hydroelectric, wind, solar and geothermal sources.
