USAID donates vehicles to conflict affected health institutions in Amhara Region
Addis Ababa, August 16, 2022 (FBC) – United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has donated eight field vehicles to war affected health institutions in Amhara Region.
USAID Mission Director to Ethiopia, Sean Jones handed over the vehicles to Dr. Melkamu Abite, Head of the Amhara Region Health Bureau.
The donation is part of the continued support of the people of the U.S. to the efforts underway to restore health facilities damaged by the conflict, USAID Mission Director to Ethiopia said. The vehicles will contribute to the efforts to improve the public health services in the region, he added.
Dr. Melkamu Abite, for his part, the USAID has so far delivered medical supplies to warn torn health facilities in the region, extending gratitude to the U.S. people and Government for the support.
Saying that the gaps created in the health service delivery due to the damage inflicted by the conflict can not be filled by sole efforts of the government, the Head called on partners and all stakeholders to scale up the assistance.
