UNODC staff plant trees in support of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative
Addis Ababa, July 28, 2020 (FBC) – Staff of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Addis Ababa have planted tree seedlings at premises of the headquarter today.
Margaret Akullo, UNODC representative in Ethiopia said the Programme Office staff of UNODC in partnership with Prison Commission in a bid to show solidarity for Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative.
She said the green legacy initiative introduced by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed a year before is a decissive step being taken by the government of Ethiopia to build a climate resilient economy in the nation.
Ethiopia has so far planted more than 3 billion trees out of 5 billion target during this summer season.
