UNFPA vows continued support for Ethiopia’s population policy
Addis Ababa, June 29, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Planning and Development, Fitsum Aseffa met and discussed with Koffi Kouam, the newly appointed Ethiopian representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
During the meeting Koffi Kouam, reaffirmed UNFPA’s continued commitment to strengthen its cooperation with the government and people of Ethiopia.
He confirmed that he will work to strengthen cooperation and development partnerships based on the needs of the people during his stay in Ethiopia, it is stated.
Minister of Planning and Development, Fitsum Aseffa, on her part expressed her best wishes to the representative for coming to Ethiopia.
She expressed her hope that he will strengthen UNFPA’s cooperation to strengthen the work that the Ethiopian Government is being implementing in the issues of population affairs.
The Minister also briefed the newly appointed Ethiopian representative of the UNFPA about the implementation of comprehensive and multisectoral population policy of Ethiopia which has been included in the new economic development reform agenda.
