UAE delegates console victims of landslide in Gofa zone
Addis Ababa, July 28, 2024 (FBC) – The United Arab Emirates’ delegation arrived at the site of the landslide accident in Geze Gofa woreda of Gofa zone in South Ethiopia region and delivered 85 tons of humanitarian aid to the citizens affected by the incident.
The delegation, sent by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was present at the scene and offered solace to the victims of the accident, it was indicated.
During the occasion, members of the delegation expressed that the United Arab Emirates will steadfastly support the Ethiopian people and government in their efforts to aid those affected by the disaster.
The United Arab Emirates has initiated its support by providing the first round of 85 tons of humanitarian aid to the citizens affected by the disaster in the Gofa zone, with plans for continued assistance. The humanitarian aid delivered today consist items for children and others.
Aklilu Adane, the head of water, mineral and energy office at South Ethiopia region, stated that his government is actively working towards addressing the situation in a sustainable manner, as per the regional government communication department.
