U.S. EXIM Bank approves $281mln loan to Ethiopian Airlines  

Addis Ababa, December 23, 2022 (FBC) – The Board of Directors for the Export-Import Bank of the United States’ (EXIM) unanimously approved 281 million USD to the Ethiopian Airlines Group.

The Board guaranteed the 281 million USD loan from the Private Export Funding Corporation (PEFCO), it was stated.

The bank said in a statement that, “these monies will finance the export of several Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft” adding that, “the first of this fleet were delivered in September 2022 and the remaining aircrafts are expected to be delivered by the end of March 2023”.

The partnership between Export-Import Bank and Ethiopian Airlines is another example of American and Ethiopian cooperation for shared prosperity, the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa said in a tweet.
