TV BRICS portal doubles volume of media materials about BRICS and Russia’s role in association in 2024

Moscow, December 31, 2024 (TV BRICS/FMC) – In the Year of Russia’s Chairmanship in BRICS, the information portal of the TV BRICS International Media Network doubled its media output. At the same time, the resource’s attendance increased 1.5 times to 600,000 unique users per month. According to statistics, the TV BRICS portal is most read in Russian, followed by materials in English, then Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and Arabic language versions.

TV BRICS is in demand in all UN countries. The top ten countries with the highest number of requests to the resource are Russia, Azerbaijan, the United States, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Brazil, Venezuela, Armenia, South Africa, and India. Compared to 2023, the CIS and Latin American countries appeared in the top 10, pushing Canada and EU countries, including Germany and Finland, below. At the same time, the audience from Venezuela increased 58 times, from Azerbaijan – 50 times, from Armenia – 20 times, from Kyrgyzstan – ten times.

“In 2024, we maintained interest in the portal from the absolute majority of countries, with a number of states demonstrating a multiple increase in attention to TV BRICS. This is the result of the work of the renewed editorial staff, the entire large team of the international media network and foreign media partners, who together with us form a united agenda. For TV BRICS, the year 2024 was marked by Russia’s chairmanship of BRICS. We endeavoured to saturate the international media space with information about the development of the association and Russia’s activities in this area. The G20 summit in Brazil, the events of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China, and the Russian-Chinese Cultural Years were among the events that also received high resonance,” Anna Lisina, Editor-in-Chief of the TV BRICS portal said.

In 2024, the portal launched two new language versions: Spanish in March and Arabic in October, on the eve of the XVI BRICS summit in Kazan, so TV BRICS now has six working languages. There was a special section on Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship and a BRICS & G20 media project with the participation of experts from different countries. All language versions of the portal have developed permanent editorial sections aimed at introducing BRICS participants and partners: BRICS Podcast – audio podcasts about the countries and international cooperation, BRICS View – short videos about national traditions and culture, BRICS Bloggers Team – a platform for bloggers.

The database of experts from BRICS+ countries created by the TV BRICS portal has increased 1.5 times over the year. It now includes over 200 experts from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Iran, Argentina, Chile, and Italy. Among them are Dmitry Lyubomudrov, Co-Chairman of the BRICS Industrial Coalition Council, Kinfu Tafesse Zenebe, President of the Union of African Diasporas in Russia and the Association of the Ethiopian Community in Russia and the CIS, Mark Howard Levin, Professor of Minzu University of China, and Aleksey Maslov, Doctor of History and Director of the Institute of Asian and African Countries at Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). Representatives of any mass media, students of higher educational institutions and young specialists can get experts’ comments through the feedback form.

Anna Lisina noted that in 2025, emphasis will be placed on expanding the presence of TV BRICS in social media and the use of artificial intelligence in the process of language adaptation. The editorial policy will remain focused on topics that strengthen international cooperation: culture, diplomacy, education, science, economics, trade relations, healthcare, innovative technologies, tourism, sports. The BRICS summits in Brazil and the G20 summits in South Africa, as well as the key events of the SCO, EAEU, ASEAN and Mercosur will be in the centre of attention.
