Türkiye welcomes Ethiopia’s AU-brokered peace talk successful conclusion

Addis Ababa, November 3, 2022 (FBC) – The Turkish government congratulated Ethiopia on the successful conclusion of the AU-brokered peace talk which concluded with both sides signing agreement to end the conflict through permanent disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of TPLF.

Following the agreement that ensures safeguarding of Ethiopia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Turkish government extended its congratulatory message over the successful and effective conclusion of the peace talk.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs penned a letter welcoming the peace talk’s outcome:

We welcome the agreement reached between the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Tigray Peoples’ Liberation Front on the cessation of the hostilities in northern Ethiopia at the peace talks hosted by the Republic of South Africa, and we hope it to be a lasting one.

We congratulate the African Union which led the talks, the host Republic of South Africa and all contributing parties for their efforts.

We reiterate our readiness to give all kinds of support to friendly and brotherly Ethiopia for the establishment of peace and tranquility in Ethiopia”, the Turkish MFA stated.

Ethiopia and Türkiye share a long established, friendly and historic bilateral relation.
