Turkish President expresses gratitude to Gov’t of Ethiopia for solidarity over deadly quakes

Addis Ababa, April 26, 2023 (FBC) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his heartfelt thanks for the support and solidarity shown by the Government of Ethiopia.

According to the Ethiopian embassy in Ankara, the President gave a Presidential Medal and Order of Distinguished Humanitarian Service certificate to Ambassador Adem Mohamed Mahmud, Ambassador of Ethiopia to Türkiye and L/General Desta Abiche, the leader of the Search and Rescue unit of Ethiopia that helped on the ground in Türkiye in the aftermath of February’s deadly earthquake.

“We are deeply humbled to be bestowed with the esteemed Ceremony of Türkiye Presidential Medal and Order of Distinguished Humanitarian Service certificate on account of my country’s involvement in the Search and Rescue mission during the catastrophic earthquake”, Ambassador Adem has stated.
