Turkish Manufacturer announces a plan to expand its presence in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, January 9, 2025 (FMC) – Kumtek Industrial PLC, a Turkish company in Ethiopia, has announced plans to expand its operations in the country, the company’s Executive Manager, Sindu Habtemariam, revealed today.

The company, which has been operating in Ethiopia for five years, currently manufactures household and electronic appliances, smart poles, tele towers, and construction materials at its hub in Sebeta City, Oromia Region. With a daily production of over 5,000 home and electric appliance products, Kumtek Industrial PLC is set to diversify its product line by introducing modern farming machinery.

As part of this initiative, the company has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture to produce modern hand-ploughing machinery in response to demand from local farmers . The company has already created permanent job opportunities for nearly 400 Ethiopians.

Kumtek Industrial PLC has also partnered with Lima International PLC, a local company that produces packed drinking water, as part of its efforts to diversify its products. The company also signed prominent Ethiopian artist Netsanet Workneh as its brand ambassador.

Deputy CEO and owner’s representative, Mr. Sadi Akturk, expressed appreciation for the growth of Ethiopia’s industrial, agricultural, and construction sectors, which the company sees as a significant opportunity for the company to expand its manufacturing capacity. KUMET is currently operating in more than 100 countries worldwide, he said.
