Transportation of soil fertilizer officially launched from Djibouti port
Addis Ababa, November 2, 2023 (FBC) – The transportation of soil fertilizer for 2016/2017 E.C crop cultivation season from the port of Djibouti officially inaugurated today, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti.
The operation was officially inaugurated at the Port of Djibouti by Prosperity Party Vice President, Mr. Adem Farah, in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Girma Amente, other officials from Ethiopia as well as officials of the Government of Djibouti.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Adem stated stable and large-scale fertilizer shipments are a crucial lifeline for farmers during the Ethiopian planting season to ensure food security in the country.
Minister of State for Agriculture, Sophia Kasa, CEO of Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics (ESL) Beriso Amelo, delegates from the Ministry of Agriculture and other institutions held a discussion with the Ethiopian Ambassador to Djibouti Mr. Berhanu Tsegaye on the process of the transportation the soil fertilizer into Ethiopia.
It is to be remembered that a vessel loaded with 51 thousand 420 metric tons of urea soil fertilizer arrived at the port of Djibouti on October 29, 2023, in the first round of soil fertilizer imported for the 2016/17 E.C crop growing season.
