Transport Ministry commences online licensing system

Addis Ababa, May 8, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Transport has finalized preparations to commence online services with its five departments to avoid physical contact amid coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry in collaboration with Ministry of Innovation and Technology held a launching ceremony yesterday to announce the commencement of its online services including issuance of driving licenses, and Cross – Border Shipment Permit to Djibouti and Sudan.

Issuance of Special licenses to private vehicles against the odd – Even transport scheme and import of new and used vehicles will also be carried out via internet, the ministry indicated.

The Transport Minister, Dagmawit Moges stated efforts are underway to modernize the sector there by enable the public access speedy and safe services using online mechanisms.

Transport Ministry, Code Enforcement Office and Traffic Police will be beneficiary sectors of the newly introduced internet based service delivery system, it is indicated.
