Toyota Resumes Operation at 12 Out of 14 Plants in Japan After System Failure
MOSCOW, August 30 (Sputnik) – Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota Motor Corporation said on Wednesday it had resumed operation at 12 of its 14 production plants in the country after a system failure and announced its intention to restart operations at the two remaining plants later in the day.
“Production is expected to resume at 25 lines in 12 domestic plants, with the exception of the Toyota Motor Kyushu Miyata Plant and the Daihatsu Kyoto Plant. The resumption of the system from the first shift tomorrow [August 30] will be a temporary measure, with operations expected to resume in all plants from the second shift onwards,” Toyota said in a statement.
The company also said it was planning to relaunch the two plants the in the prefectures of Fukuoka and Kyoto on Wednesday evening, adding that it would continue investigating the cause of the system failure.
The malfunction has not been caused by a cyberattack, according to preliminary data, the car manufacturer added.
