Tigray region residents say they are rooting for lasting peace
Addis Ababa, December 26, 2022 (FBC) – Residents of the Tigray region told Fana Broadcasting Corporate that lasting peace is their innermost desire.
Fana Broadcasting Corporate correspondents visited various cities and towns of Tigray region and spoke to the members of the public who claimed that the people have been massively affected by the conflict.
They emphasized that they do not wish to see any more conflict, recalling that previous conflicts only resulted in damage and destruction to the area.
Residents of Shiraro, Shire and other towns stated that conflict can only entail deaths, migration, destruction and damage of infrastructure, underlining that peace is the innermost desire of the people of the region.
Following the Pretoria Peace Agreement, they said that they have started to witness relative peace.
They confirmed that humanitarian aid is being provided and that basic services have started to be restored.
The residents urged for continued efforts to restore basic public services and enhance humanitarian supplies.
They further urged all parties to strengthen commitment and give priority to the implementation of lasting peace.
