The Walias coach announces 23-man squad for AFCON qualifying match against Malawi

Addis Ababa, June 10, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian National Team Head Coach Daniel Gebremariam has announced the 23-man squad players for the match against Malawi in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 qualifying match.

The called-up players have been informed to report for training at Adama Canopy Hotel on Monday, June 12,, the Ethiopian Football Federation confirmed.

Star striker Abubeker Nassir misses out from the squad for temporarily undisclosed reason. The head coach is expected to provide more team news next week in his press conference.

The Ethiopian National Team (The Walia Antelopes) sit bottom of Group D whereas Egypt and Guinea occupy the top 2 spots with 9 points from 4 matches, only separated by goal difference. The Walias next opponents Malawi are 3rd.

Both Egypt and Guinea face off each other on matchday 5. The Walias will face Egypt on matchday 6, the last game of the qualifying round, in Cairo.
