The Pushkin Center in Addis Ababa hosts cultural events in honor of Ethiopian Meskel Holiday
Addis Ababa, September 25, 2023 (FBC) – The Russian Center for Science and Culture (The Pushkin Center) in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian Embassy in Ethiopia organized a cultural event including a concert of religious music at the Russian House (The Pushkin Center) in Addis Ababa on Sunday in commemoration of the Ethiopian Meskel Holiday.
According to the Pushkin Center, the event as part of the Russian Days, was also aimed at enhancing cultural and people to people ties between Russia and Ethiopia.
Welcoming the participants of the event, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ethiopia, Evegeny Terekhin, said that Russia is committed to enhance ties with Ethiopia in multifaceted areas including culture, education and science.
The event gives an opportunity for Ethiopians to know more about the cultural and spiritual values and history of Russia, the Ambassador stated, adding that the Embassy is undertaking various activities that would help strengthen the historical and longstanding ties between Ethiopia and Russia in this regard.
Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), member of the Russian delegation and Secretary for Inter-Christian Relations at the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, for his part, commended the event as a significant step to bolster ties between the two countries.
The events include a concert of the Combined Choir of the Trinity- Sergius Lavra and the Moscow Theological Academy.
