The 2024 Wanda Diamond League season kicks off in Xiamen today
Addis Ababa, April 20, 2024 (FBC) – The Wanda Diamond League returns today, with the first meeting of the season taking place in Xiamen, China, this afternoon.
World record-holders, Olympic gold medalists and world champions are among the athletes who will get their outdoor campaigns under way, World Athletics confirmed.
The action will start at 5:35pm local time (GMT+8) with the men’s high jump and the main two-hour broadcast window will begin at 7:00pm local time with the women’s 400m.
Lamecha Girma, Kuma Girma, Nibret Melak, Muktar Edris, and Addisu Yihunie of Ethiopia among the men athletes vying for victory in 5000m race on the opening day of this season’s Diamond League meeting. Meanwhile, Gudaf Tsegay, Diribe Welteji, Freweyni Hailu, Birke Haylom, Habtam Alemu, Axumawit Ambaye, Saron Berhe, Worknesh Mesele, and Nigist Getachew will go head-to-head in the women’s 1500m race. Frehiwot Gessese and Lomi Multea will also be competing in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.
