Swedish Amb, UNICEF Representative visit displaced people in Metekel zone

Addis Ababa, February 18, 2021 (FBC) -Ambassador of Sweden to Ethiopia Hans Henric Lundquist and Adele Khodr UNICEF Representative in Ethiopia visited Chagni camp for IDPs displaced from Metekel zone.

The Chagni camp currently hosts 43,000 of the 74,000 people displaced from Metekel zone, Benishangul Gumuz regional state, according to UNICEF Ethiopia.

UNICEF Ethiopia has been providing health, nutrition, water and sanitation services and supplies together with Ethiopian Government and partners.

Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) is a key partner of UNICEF and in 2020 alone it contributed $6m to UNICEF’s humanitarian appeal for children in Ethiopia.

Ambassador Lundquist and Khodr also met with Chief Administrator of Amhara regional state, Agegnehu Teshager, to discuss development and humanitarian response.
