Sweden affirms support to reconstruction of conflict-damaged facilities in Amhara Region

Addis Ababa, February 14, 2022 (FBC) – Sweden has announced readiness to support efforts being exerted by the Amhara Regional State to reconstruct institutions and infrastructures damaged by TPLF aggression in the region.

Ambassador of Sweden to Ethiopia, Hans Henrik discussed with Chief Administrator of the Amhara Regional State, Yilkal Kefale (PhD) on the activities being carried out to rebuild institutions and infrastructures damaged by the TPLF rebels.

The Chief Administrator told the Swedish Ambassador that the terrorist TPLF caused a huge human and infrastructure damage in several parts of the Amhara Region.

Amhara Regional Government has embarked on restoration and rebuilding following the relative peace in the region, Yilkal said.

Restoration and reconstruction works need support of partners for they are not achievable with the sole efforts of the government, he explained.

Ambassador Hans Herik, for his part, the berifing he received form the Chief Administrator has enabled him understand the extent of the damage the conflict caused to the region.

The Ambassador further reiterated the commitment of Sweden to support the restoration and reconstruction of conflict-damaged infrastructure in the Amhara Region.
