Sudan makes historic blunder in encroaching Ethiopia’s territory: Ambassador

Addis Ababa, February 4, 2021 (FBC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Sudan, Yibletal Aimro said Sudan made a historic blunder when it encroached the territory of Ethiopia.

Sudan’s action is wrongful both morally and legally in the light of its longstanding and historical relationship with Ethiopia, he underlined.

Ambassador Yibeltal said that Sudan’s wrongful act is also against the exchange of notes agreed between the two countries in 1972.

Sudanese forces demolished properties and claimed lives of Ethiopians in while border encroachment and caused to the country damage equal to an estimated amount of 1 Billion Birr, he said.

Ethiopia is still in a position to address the border dispute with peaceful mechanism, the Ambassador said, adding the nation will be obliged to defend its rights otherwise.
