State Minister briefs diplomatic community on current national, regional affairs
Addis Ababa, April 28, 2023 (FBC) – State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Mesganu Arga briefed the Diplomatic Community based in Addis Ababa yesterday about the Evacuation operation from #Sudan because of the intense clashes between SAF and RSF.
According to the State Minister, negotiation is the only way out of a problem and demands the leadership’s strong commitment and resolve.
He also remarked that the Ethiopian government is optimistic that the Sudanese people have the wisdom and strength to overcome the current crisis.
Following the escalation of the crisis in Sudan, the government of Ethiopia has set up a task force to respond to emergency evacuation assistance requests from other countries and to deal with the expected flow of refugees, according to Ambassador Mesganu.
He also stated that the task force is working around the clock to ensure that every assistance requested by embassies and international organizations is met, security concerns are addressed, transportation and logistics issues from the border area to the center are facilitated, and over flight and landing permission are granted in a timely manner.
In addition, a national team of Medics assigned by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health is on its way to the area to conduct medical screening upon arrival.
