Sri Lanka officially applies to join BRICS, foreign minister announces

Addis Ababa, October 14, 2024 (FBC) – Sri Lanka has officially applied to join BRICS, foreign ministry of the country announced.

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath noted that the move reflects the country’s desire to deepen ties with emerging economies and broaden its multilateral partnerships.

Sri Lanka’s application for BRICS membership will be formally submitted during the BRICS Outreach Summit in Kazan, Russia, scheduled for October 23-24, according to Sputnik Africa.
