SPLM’s SG commends Ethiopia’s Transformative Journey Under PP Leadership
Addis Ababa, January 31, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party has adopted the best and promising practice during the last five years and this is a practice many political parties need to embrace, Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Secretary General, Peter Lam Both underscored.
In his solidarity speech at the second Prosperity Party (PP) congress, the Secretary General of—the South Sudan’s ruling party said this is a practice many political parties need to apply in their respective countries.
In search for development and inclusive unity, he noted that Ethiopia has come a long way in the corridors of history.
Citing the historical journey of Ethiopia, PP has embarked on a massive works which have recently transformed the country’s social, economic, political and physical infrastructure developments.
He specifically mentioned Addis Ababa, the capital of the country that has been transformed through infrastructure development.
For instance, he said: “I couldn’t find my place in Piazza, the heart of the city, where I used to be, and I don’t know where the place went, but Piazza is extremely beautiful.”
He also appreciated all leaders of Ethiopia during the course of history including the current Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed who has given all-round support to South Sudan.
According to the Secretary General, the two countries’ relationship expanded in a number of spheres including the recent ratification of the Nile River Basin cooperative framework agreement by South Sudan last year.
He also lauded the educational program in which, this year alone, South Sudan has received 632 scholarships from Ethiopia is a remarkable achievement.
The two countries are also embarking on physical infrastructure development cooperation in the form of road construction, especially the Paloch – Mathiang – Maiwut – Pagak Road would link the oil production areas in South Sudan to Ethiopia, he indicated.
“We would like to extend cooperation and partnership in the following thematic areas including investment, mechanized agriculture, construction of airports, ports, enhancement of river transport cooperation and partnership on energy, electrification and construction of hydro power.”
