South Africa pledges continued support to Ethiopia Peace Agreement implementation 

Addis Ababa, February 18, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, spoke with South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, today on the margins of the ongoing 36th African Union Summit. He also briefed her about the implementation progress of the Pretoria peace deal. 

Demeke  appreciated the Government of South Africa for its relentless support for the success of the AU-led Pretoria Peace Agreement between the government of Ethiopia and the TPLF. 

On her part, the  South African Foreign Minister said that South Africa felt privileged to host the negotiations that led to the Pretoria Peace Agreement. 

She said her government remains committed to supporting the implementation of the agreement whenever necessary.
