Some manipulated HRC’s Special Session for their politically motivated agenda: GCS
Addis Ababa, December 18, 2021 (FBC) – In a press briefing, State Minister of the Government Communications Service, Selamawit Kassa said that some countries that are trying to interfere in Ethiopia’s internal affairs have manipulated the 3erd Special Session of the UN Human Rights Council for their politically motivated agenda
Selamawit told journalist that the joint security forces of Ethiopia have continued registering remarkable victories against the aggressor TPLF in all fronts.
The forces have effectively blocked inlets and obstructed TPLF’s delivery of properties it looted from various towns and bullets to its intended destination.
The TPLF has started its familiar screeches with support of its enablers abroad following the heavy devastations it has encountered in all battle fronts.
Regarding yesterday’s 33rd Special Session of the UN Human Rights Security Council, the State Minister underlined that the deliberation has undermined the reforms and ongoing efforts of the Government of Ethiopia to ensure accountability on alleged human rights violations.
The human rights of its citizens are a key agenda for the government of Ethiopia. An independent and strong institution has been formed since the national reform agenda was initiated to ensure these constitutionally recognized rights are fully implemented.
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission have jointly investigated into the alleged human rights violations in the context of the conflict in the northern parts of Ethiopia. And, the government is committed to continue ensuring accountability.
There are results that paved ways to hold all parties involved in the alleged human rights violations accountable, and preparations are underway to implement recommendations and redress the victims of abuses.
It is regrettable to have witnessed that the resolution comes at a time when the terrorist TPLF is intensifying brutal atrocities on innocent civilians.
Over the last months, the international media, organizations have uncovered atrocities committed by the terrorist TPLF in areas that have been recently liberated.
Mass graves are being discovered as survivors are recounting mass killings, lootings, rapes and various horrendous crimes committed by the terrorist group, it is indicated.
But, Selamawit underlined, that some western power and media have turned deaf ear to the brutal atrocities of the renegade group.
The government will continue shedding light on the realities to enabling the world community comprehend the extent of atrocities undertaken by the criminal enterprise, she noted.
Selamawit underscored that enablers of the terrorist TPLF misused UN Human Rights Council for their politically motivated objectives.
Government and people of Ethiopia have shown commitment to cooperate with the international community in protection of human rights through the joint investigations and other mechanisms initiated by the government, she said.
The session has served as a platform to bring an imposed mechanism to interfere in internal affairs of Ethiopia, Selamawit said.
The Government of Ethiopia will never accept the proposal that was passed during the 33rd Special Session of the UN Human Right Council for it was used to impose ill-motivated mechanism on Ethiopia.
The special session has enabled Ethiopia to clearly identify countries that stood with her during such a trying time from those conspiring behind.
“Friendly countries have continued showing their strong solidarity with Ethiopia in advocating national interests of the nation,” Selamawit noted.
The government of Ethiopia is committed to continue to cooperate with any legitimate international organization willing to respect sovereignty of the nation in investigating into alleged human rights abuses.
In related story, the State Minister explained that recent arrest of individuals who are suspected of collaborating with terrorist organizations is aimed to safeguard sovereignty of the nation.
Individuals who have been arresting were allegedly found accountable for supporting terrorist groups. It is unacceptable to cover up the wrongdoings of the suspected journalists in the guise of freedom of press. Police will continue investigations into arrested journalists, she added.
Government will continue holding anyone who is cooperating with elements that are perpetrating to dismantle Ethiopia accountable, she said.
There are different individuals and groups who are perpetrating to instigate conflict among communities, Selamawit said, adding that the government will not tolerate any activity that is against sovereignty of the country.
