Somali region unveils $161mln project key to build drought resilience, improve animal breeding

Addis Ababa, March 25, 2023 (FBC) – The Somali Regional State with support of the World Bank and African Development Bank has announced several projects important to build drought resilience and improve animal breeding activities.

Head of Somali Region Agriculture Bureau, Mohammed Sheik Aden said that the projects are aimed to advance financial capacity of pastoralists, mitigate climate change induced disasters and enhance animal breeding activities.

More than 4.5 million pastoralists, enterprises engaged in livestock market and merchants will benefit from the project that will run for five years, the Bureau announced.
