Somali Region President, UN official discuss ways of rebuilding livelihoods of IDPs
May 24, 2022 (FBC) – A delegation of UN Agencies and Ambassadors of five countries led by UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Ethiopia, Dr. Catherine Sozi met with President of Somali Region, Mustafa Omer on ways of rebuilding livelihoods of IDPs who left homes due to drought situation in the area.
The team interacted with the President of Somali Region and with regional and local authorities, affected populations and other partners on the humanitarian situation in the area as well as on the ongoing response, gaps and challenges in the region.
Mustafa Omer has briefed the delegation on activities underway to foster agricultural productivity and reinstate IDPs in a sustainable manner.
The delegation reiterated commitment of the UN and international humanitarian organizations to provide the necessary support for the efforts being exerted by the Government of Ethiopia to reinstate people affected by the drought in the region.
