Smooth implementation of the China-Ethiopia “Chinese + Vocational Skills” Project

The China-Ethiopia “Chinese + Vocational Skills” project supported by the Ethiopia Ministry of Labour and Skills officially began to be implemented this year. The first batch of institutes participating in this project include Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute, Henan Polytechnic Institute, Henan Polytechnic and Xuchang Vocational Technical College.

The lasting 2 months teaching task of the first batch of 5 Chinese teachers is making steady progress at the Federal Technical and Vocational Training Institute (FTVTI). The 3 teachers named Wang Feng, Wang Mengmeng from Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute and Xu Guiyang from Henan Polytechnic Institute arrived at FTVTI earlier in June, teaching Hydropower Engineering Technology and  Mechatronics Technology. They have finished the teaching task in early August, and the trainees have got their Certificate of Completion with great satisfaction. The other 2 teachers followed the 3 teachers’ pace and arrived at FTVTI later. They are Lu Xunxiang from Henan Polytechnic and Fang Yingming from Xuchang Vocational Technical College, teaching Intelligent Welding Technology and Automotive Testing and Maintenance Technology. Their teaching task will be ended at the end of this month. At that time, the teaching task of the first batch shall be totally finished.

During the class, the professionalism and enthusiasm of the Chinese teachers have been widely applauded by trainees. The trainees also showed a high enthusiasm for learning and thirst for knowledge. They took the initiative to communicate their confusion and thinking with the teachers, and the on-site teaching atmosphere was very harmonious. It is believed that through the concerted efforts of China and Ethiopia, the value and significance of the courses will be further deepened.

The successful implementation of the China-Ethiopia “Chinese + Vocational Skills” project has effectively solved the problem of production capacity localization in Ethiopia and met the pressing demand for “Chinese +” composite and skilled talents to the local economic and social development. Looking forward to the future, China and Ethiopia institutions will maintain closer interaction and promote China-Ethiopia cooperation and exchanges in vocational education to be profound, solid, and stable.
