Shire town regains electric power service, EEU confirms

Addis Ababa, December 8, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) has announced that electric services have been restored in Shire town after more than a year of interruption.

According to EEU, Humera and its surroundings are in pole position to regain electric power very soon.

Melaku Taye, Director of Corporate Communications at EEU, told Fana Broadcasting Corporate that Shire’s electric infrastructure, which was completely damaged. Hence, after the the completion of infrastructure maintenance, Shire town regained electric power this evening.

He expressed his gratitude to those who contributed round the clock to the resumption of the electric service.

At the same time, he said that the maintenance and inspection work has been completed so that Humera and the surrounding area can regain electric power.

According, experts are making efforts restore electric power to those areas by tomorrow, if not tonight, he stated.

He also indicated that a technical committee has been formed. Preparations are being made to restore electric service to other cities in the Tigray region and neighboring areas very soon.
