Several mega projects in the capital to be completed this Ethiopian year
Addis Ababa, October 9, 2023 (FBC) – About seven mega projects under construction in Addis Ababa city administration, including the Adwa Zero Kilometer Museum project, will be completed and inaugurated in the current Ethiopia fiscal year, the Addis Ababa City Mega Projects Construction Office told Fana Broadcasting Corporate.
The projects are said to be Adwa Zero Kilometer Museum, Zewditu Memorial Hospital Expansion Project, Addis International Convention Exhibition Share Project, Akaki Kaliti Rehabilitation Center, Semit Shopping Center, Bethel Shopping Center and Yeka II Parking Center.
Tamru Demssie, Communications Director of Mega Projects Construction Office, told Fana Broadcasting Corporate that works are being intensified to complete the constructions of the aforementioned mega projects in the 2023/24 Ethiopian financial year.
He confirmed that the construction of Semit and Bethel shopping centers will be completed soon.
Mr. Tamru further indicated that the construction of Adwa Zero Kilometer Museum will be completed before the upcoming Adwa Victory Day, which he hoped that the Adwa Victory Day will be celebrated in the Museum.
In October last year, Addis Ababa city administration announced the signing of the construction contract to build two mega projects with 7.6 billion Birr total cost. It was stated that the construction of the B+G+8 project for the expansion of the Zewditu Memorial Hospital, which was said to be built with the commitment to increase the health sector at a total cost of 1.5 billion birr, is one of the two mega projects.
Recall that last February, the Addis Ababa Mega Projects Construction Office had said the project would be fully completed and put into operation in October 2023.
However, it is hoped that the project will be concluded before the commemoration of the 128th Adwa Victory.
This project includes multipurpose units including the Adwa Memorial Museum, an amphitheater, libraries and youth centers is expected to be the biggest in its kind in the country. The construction of the Adwa Center is underway at 3.3 ha of land at the heart of the capital city.
The 4.6 billion birr mega project is equipped with a state-of-the-art parking lot that will have a capacity of accommodating more than 1,000 cars at a time.
As a memorial center of the African Victory, Adwa the center is expected to serve as a platform for reinvigoration of the spirit of Pan-Africanism.
