Senior officials reaffirm government’s commitment to support Djiboutian investors in Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, February 16, 2023 (FBC) – During a meeting with Djiboutian businessmen on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, who expressed interest in investing in various sectors including agro-processing, mineral water, poultry, real estate, and logistics, Minister of Transport and Logistics Alemu Sime (PhD) and State Minister of Finance Eyob Tekalign (PhD) reassured the government’s commitment to supporting Djiboutian investors.
Alemu acknowledged the challenges in the logistics sector and stated that the government has removed policy and regulatory barriers to facilitate joint ventures with foreign investors.
The interlinkage between the two countries in road, rail, air transport, and logistics makes it a viable opportunity for Djiboutian investors to pursue the logistics sector, expressing the ministry’s readiness to support prospective investors in the logistics sector, particularly in the development of the cold chain.
State Minister Eyob also emphasized the ministry’s commitment to addressing bottlenecks in real-time to promote the flow of FDI into the country.
The meeting also included discussions with Ato Derbe Asfaw, the President of Cooperative Bank of Oromia, on ways to further chart out new areas of cooperation in the banking sector.
