Senior officials launch 4.2bln ETB Nekemt-Soge-Kamashi-Koncho asphalt road project

Addis Ababa, June 13, 2021 (FBC) – Senior officials including presidents of Oromia and Benishangul Gumuz Regions Shemelis Abdisa and Ashadli Hassen and the Water, Irrigation and Energy Minister Dr. Seleshi Bekele and the Defense Minister Dr. Kenea Yadeta have together launched the Nekemt-Soge-Kamashi-Koncho asphalt road project.

The project to be carried out with an outlay of 4.2 Billion Birr aimed to connect various parts of Oromia and Benishangul Gumuz regions with road infrastructure link.

Project is said to be crucial to tap the immense potential of the areas it covers and supply the central market with agricultural products and create a market link for farmers in the two regional states.

Deputy Director General of the federal Roads Authority, Mohammed Abdurahman indicated that the budget of the project is solely covered by the Ethiopian government.

Meanwhile, the Oromia Regional State President Shemelis Abdisa lauched the construction of the Nekemt Integrated Agro-Industrial Park to be carried out with an outlay of 7.8 Billion Birr.
