Senegal reiterates Ethiopia’s indispensable role for Pan-Africanism
Addis Ababa, February 11, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian Ambassador to India, Tizita Mulugeta (PhD) held discussions with Abdoul Wahab, High Commissioner of the Republic of Senegal to India.
At the outset, Ambassador Tizita congratulated Abdould for Senegal’s president election as Chairperson of the African Union for the year 2022 as well as for the Senegal National Team winning the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in the country’s history.
Ambassador Tizita briefed the High Commissioner about the current developments in Ethiopia and the positive measures taken by the government to bring lasting peace in the country.
She expressed her hope that the new chairperson of the AU would play a significant role in making African’s voice be heard on the world stage and work vigorously for the realization of Agenda 2063.
Ambassador Tizita underscored Ethiopia’s unwavering commitment towards African solution for African problems and stressed the tripartite negotiation on GERD under the auspices of the AU as a viable option to hammer out unresolved issues.
Abdoul Wahab, in his part, conveyed his appreciation to Ethiopia and its leadership for hosting the 35th AU summit successfully and thanked for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to his country’s delegation.
He reiterated Ethiopia’s indispensable role for Pan-Africanism and the struggle for anti-colonialism which placed the country as a symbol of freedom for black people all over the world.
He also noted the role AU plays in creating peaceful and harmonious continent that promotes closer integration amongst African states and subsequently improving intra-Africa trade and economic development.
