Safaricom Ethiopia goes live in Gambella city

Addis Ababa, December 19, 2024 (FMC) – Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia P.L.C., the second telecom operator in Ethiopia, has officially launched customer network services in Gambella city and surrounding areas, Gambella regional government communication service confirmed today.

In her speech at the launch event, Chief Administrator of Gambella Region, Ms. Alemitu Umod, stated that the launch of Safaricom Ethiopia services in the area aims to enhance telecom network in Gambella.

Highlighting the transformative impact of improved infrastructure on social and economic development, she pointed out that the launch of the network service will be important in facilitating business activities, attracting investment, and increasing entrepreneurship.

The CEO of Safarim Ethiopia, Wim Vanhelleputte, said for his part that the network service launched today in Gambella is a testament to the company’s commitment to expand its reach throughout Ethiopia and connect communities in all parts of the country.
