Russia, Eritrea agree to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various sectors
Addis Ababa, January 27, 2023 (FBC) – The State of Eritrea and the Russian Federation has agreed to strengthen bilateral ties in various areas of cooperation.
Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, as part of his latest African trip has paid a two day officially visited to Eritrea where he discussed with Isaias Afwerki and Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohammed on ways of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
In a press conference held in port city of Massawa, Sergey Lavrov said Russia is ready to forge cooperation with Eritrea in areas of trade, economy and investment.
“We have agreed to give impetus to our cooperation in mining, energy, agriculture, infrastructure and ICT sectors,” the Russian Foreign Minister underscored.
Sergey Lavrov added that Russia is ready to enhance its relations with Eritrea in international platforms with a view to defend national interests of the two countries.
Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohammed, for his part, said visit by the Russian Foreign Minister has created an opportunity for the two coutnries to extend views on regional and international issues of great importance and further strengthen their bilateral ties.
