Revenue Ministry seizes undeclared currency worth $449,000 at boarder
Addis Ababa, August 20, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Revenue has seized undeclared currency worth 449, 000 US Dollars being smuggled out of the country through a border area near Humera Town on Thursday.
The money has been intercepted while being smuggled out of the country by three individuals who have foreign nationals.
The three foreign nationals caught red handed while smuggling the illegal money have been arrested by police in Humera Town, the Ministry says.
The smugglers holding were traversing the Ethio-Sudan Boarder via Humera Town avoiding Ligudi Checkpoint to sideways.
The money intercepted has 17.8 Million Birr equivalent value, according the Ministry.
Members of the National Defense, Employees of Humera Branch Revenue Office and Members of Federal Police have played irreplaceable role in intercepting the unreported money before it crosses the border.
