Residents of Shire town call for enhanced humanitarian aid delivery
Addis Ababa, December 27, 2022 (FBC) – Residents of the Tigray region contacted by Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) called for enhanced efforts to fully restore basic public services and increase the ongoing delivery of humanitarian assistance.
FBC’s reporters visited various cities and towns of Tigray region and spoke to the members of the public who claimed that the people have been affected by the conflict.
Humanitarian aid being provided by the government and stakeholders in Shire town and its surroundings should be strengthened, the resident stated.
Residents told FBC that the humanitarian aid being provided to the city and its surrounding communities is addressing social problems caused by the conflict.
The residents said that the government is fulfilling its obligations according to the agreement reached in Pretoria and Nairobi and demanded that the activities be reinforced.
So far, 151 vehicles loaded with humanitarian supplies have entered the area and distribution is underway.
The residents further called on international organizations and donors to scale up their support to government’s efforts to address the humanitarian need in the region.
