Religious leaders, officials partake in cleaning sites of Timket festival in the capital
Addis Ababa, January 18, 2024 (FBC) – A multitude of distinguished officials from the Addis Ababa city administration, various religious leaders, and residents of the capital engaged in the cleaning of the Timket-Ketera festival sites.
It is known that the annual Ketera-Timket festival will be celebrated by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church faithful on January 19 and 20, 2024, respectively.
In light of this, Ms. Hikma Kheyredin, the Deputy Mayor and Head of the Addis Ababa City Manager’s Office, alongside other high-ranking officials of the city administration, various religious leaders, and city residents actively participated in the cleaning of the Timket-Ketera festival sites in the Kirkos Sub-city this morning.
On the occasion, Ms. Hikma recalled that Timket festival (Ethiopian Epiphany) is one of Ethiopia’s intangible world heritages inscribed by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
While the festival predominantly resonates with Ethiopian Orthodox Christians, she eloquently expressed that the significance of this celebration extends to encompass all Ethiopians.
Furthermore, she implored the entire populace of the capital to actively contribute to the successful celebration of the Timket-Ketera festival by upholding its religious and cultural values.
It is learned that such activities have been undertaken in different parts of the country this morning.
