Reboot the Earth Ethiopia hackathon winning team awarded money prize, a trophy

Addis Ababa, June 5, 2024 (FBC) – Reboot the Earth Ethiopia hackathon launched in Addis Ababa yesterday with a view to empower young innovators in climate action.

The hackathon brought together eleven teams of young Ethiopian innovators who will collaborate to develop innovative solutions to tackle climate challenges.

Ethiopian youth convened to demonstrate their solutions to addressing climate crises, focusing on trade, supply chain and water management.

The “Reboot the Earth Ethiopia” hackathon was launched by Dr. Bayassa Badada, State Minister of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, at the Ethiopia ICT Park-Innobiz-Innovation center.

The event aims to harness the power of technology to address climate change and promote the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The intensive in-person competition concluded today, culminating in an award ceremony recognizing the outstanding contributions of the teams.

The winning team clinched money prize worth 10,000 USD and a trophy award. The winning is also said to showcase its groundbreaking solutions at the upcoming OSPO for Good Symposium in New York, providing a valuable platform to demonstrate the creativity and dedication of Ethiopian youth on the world stage.

This initiative emphasizes the vital role of young people in addressing climate change and highlights the importance of digital public goods in achieving climate action.

The “Reboot the Earth Ethiopia” hackathon serves as a crucial platform to empower young innovators, fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.
