Range of activities undertaken to shed light on the reality in Ethiopia: Spokesperson
Addis Ababa, October 10, 2021 (FBC) – In recent press briefing, Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dina Mufti briefed journalists of both local and international media on latest developments in the country.
The Spokesperson said the 39th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union was successfully covering a wide range of continental issues.
The session deliberated on ways to combat the Coronavirus pandemic, enhancing efforts of the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and facilitation of enabling climate for Agenda 2063 were the major agenda of the ordinary session, he noted.
On the margins of the ongoing 39th Session of the Executive Council of the AU, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen met and briefed foreign affairs ministers of various African countries and briefed them on what is really happening in Ethiopia. He reassured the high officials with Ethiopia’s commitment for peace and development, Spokesperson said.
The government has undertaken a wide range of activities aimed to shed light on the reality in Ethiopia.
The Spokesperson added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia has issued two statements over the week detailing the destructive acts of the TPLF in areas it occupied in the Amhara region and protesting the biased European Parliament Resolution and the High-level Ministerial Meeting of the US and its partners.
The government of Ethiopia, in the statements, called upon the international community to give due attention to the plight and needs of the people in north Wollo and Gondar, as part of its repeated request for accelerated provision of humanitarian assistance to those affected by the atrocities of the TPLF in all the areas currently under occupation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia has given the second round of training to staff members and affiliated institutions over the week.
The training has covered a range of topics, mainly, including the rationale behind institutional reform of the Ministry and the basics of digital diplomacy. High-level officials of the Ministry have participated in the training.
Regarding the GERD, Ambassador Dina said the three countries reached agreements on some technical matters, he said, adding that further solutions are expected to be brought about by the African Union led negotiations.
Regarding the recent military measures by the National Defense Forces, the Spokesperson said the Wednesday’s airstrike targeted armament stockpiles of the terrorist TPLF group.
