Public Service, Administration reform to be implemented in selected institutions 

Addis Ababa, September 6, 2023 (FBC) –Public service and administration system adjustment reform will be carried out  in selected institutions during the current Ethiopia fiscal year, Civil Service Commission announced today. 

Civil Service Commission Commissioner, Mekuria Haile said the planned reform is expected to improve the overall public service rendering system.   

The Commissioner announced this in a speech he made today while Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed awarded employees who have served federal government institutions for over 38 years.

He said citizens, who are capable and serve loyally Ethiopia, play a great deal of contribution to the development of the country.

Civil servants should exert the utmost efforts to strengthen in order to render efficient services to the people by modernizing their work system, he added. 

With view of this, Mekuria pointed out that public service and administration system adjustment reform has been prepared.

The preparation of policy documents, strategies and legal frameworks vital to implementing the reform have also been nearing completion, the Commissioner said.

He further stated that the reform is expected to bring drastic  changes in Ethiopia’s public service rendering schemes by modernizing the system. 

Preparation works will be finalized during the first six months of the budget year, ENA reported citing the Commissioner.

The reforms will be carried out as a pilot in the Civil Service Commission, Ministries of Health, Education, Agriculture, Planning and Development as well as the Ministry of Finance.
