Private sector vital in developing tourism sector: PM
Addis Ababa, January 16, 2024(FBC) – The private sector plays a pivotal role in further developing the tourism sector, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said today.
In a message published on his social media page, the Prime Minister said that his government recognizes the role of the private sector in expanding the tourism sector.
“As tourism is one of the five key pillars of our economy, we recognize that the private sector plays a pivotal role,” he noted.
The Dine for Sheger, Dine for Ethiopia and Dine for Generations investments in the sector are intended to pave the way for more private sector investments in expanding destinations and services, the Premier underscored.
Recall that new tourist destinations developed under PM Abiy’s “Dine for Ethiopia” initiative; such as the Wenchi-Dendi Eco Tourism Village and the Chebera Elephant Paw Lodge have been inaugurated recently. Meanwhile, the construction of Gorgora project, similar tourist destination project under this initiative, is in its final phase and is expected to be inaugurated in due time.
