Prime Minister Abiy participates at the Somalia-Frontline States Summit
Addis Ababa, February 1, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, participated today in the Somalia-Frontline States Summit to achieve enhanced regional security cooperation, held in Mogadishu, according to the Office of the Prime Minister.
Recall that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his delegation arrived in Mogadishu today to participate in the summit, hosted by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The meeting, according to Somali National News Agency-SONNA, focused on the unification of security, the fight against Al-Shabaab terrorists, and elimination of terrorism in the region.
In the summit, Prime Minister Abiy was accompanied by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia, President William Ruto of Kenya, and President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti.
SONNA’s report indicates that the summit, which brought together the aforementioned leaders and their delegations, concluded following the consent to strengthen joint robust operational campaign against terrorism. The states’ summit also issued joint communiqué.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Abiy also discussed with the members of Ethiopian national defense forces deployed under African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) to fight against Al-Shabaab.
