Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed extends Irrecha Festival best wishes

Addis Ababa, October 4, 2024 (FBC) – In his best wishes delivered on the occasion of the Irrecha festival, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) called upon the Oromo people and all Ethiopians to embrace forgiveness, unity, and mutual respect as they celebrate the day.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of Irrecha as a time of renewal, thanksgiving, and reconciliation, marking the end of the rainy season and the onset of spring.

He underscored the importance of unity, asserting, “There is no one who will be left behind from Irrecha,” and urged attendees to reflect on their shared kindness and relationships with one another.

Prime Minister noted that, “Lush grass symbolizes honor, love, and good wishes. Spring signifies a transition, as we let go of the past and embrace new hope with a clear conscience. This reflects the core values of the Oromo people.”

Furthermore, the Premier addressed the historical significance of the Gada system, among the Oromo people, explaining how it promotes wisdom, peace and equality.

Prime Minister Abiy concluded his message by expressing hope for a brighter future, urging citizens to learn from the lessons of the past and to work collaboratively toward a united and prosperous Ethiopia.
